There are several Miao Villages at the foot of Lyudong Mountain, and Lyudong Village is one of them. It is named after the mysterious and picturesque Lyudong Mountain within its territory. Lyudong Miao Village is composed of three Miao villages, namely Gezhong, Que’er, and Xintian, located near the mountains and rivers.
Que’er Village is located on one side of the Lyudong Mountain, with dense forests and towering ancient trees, making it difficult to find this village from outside. The grey tiled and wooden houses are arranged in perfect harmony. A small stream originating from the mountaintop of Lyudong Mountain flows next to the village.
There are many ancient trees in the village, including Diospyros armata and nanmu, most of which are more than 1,000 years old. Festivals and activities such as door-blocking wine, the Ganqiu Festival, and the Miao New Year Festival attract many tourists. Clean and tidy walking trails, quaint folk houses, farmhouses with beautiful courtyards, large tea gardens, and gurgling rivers all allow people to appreciate the natural beauty. Baojing Golden Tea, planted in the deep mountains, is not only a famous business card, but also embodies the mysterious and profound Miao culture.
With its unique architectural styles and strong humanistic atmosphere with Miao characteristics, Lyudong Village is a good place for sightseeing and relaxing. According to the development blueprint of “one route, one mountain, one valley, one belt and one circle”, Lyudong Village has formed a landscape pattern that integrates mountains, rivers, fields, gardens and villages.
The Miao architectural complex in the village is hidden under Lyudong Mountain, drawing a large number of tourists. Enjoying the enchanting scenery of the sacred mountain and tasting Baojing golden tea hold great appeal for tourists.
Today’s Lyudong Village, with its prosperous industries, civilized countryside, and livable environment, has been rated as an advanced village for poverty alleviation at prefecture and county levels, and a beautiful rural demonstration village in Hunan Province.
