Xiangxi lays emphasis on two travel routes to the Tujia villages and Miao villages, and the transport to four tourism sectors of Fenghuang Ancient Town, Laosicheng Site, Liye Ancient Town and Aizhai Bridge. In this regard, it is committed to the construction of “1,000-kilometer tourism highways, 1,000-kilometer eco-tourism landscape corridors and 1,000-kilometer footpaths” for all-for-one tourism, with 1,157 kilometers of the roads under construction or completed.
Xiangxi adheres to green development and beautifies environment according to local conditions, completing 30 ecological highways that stretch 1,100 kilometers in total. The major sections of the roads are designed separately in combination with the ecological landscape, in an effort to integrate transport with folkways and tourism. Today, the roads in Xiangxi take a new look and become the ecological card of tourism.
Xiangxi aims at building new revolutionary landmarks. Since Aizhai Bridge in Jishou City connects Dehang Canyon, the Miao villages and century-old roads, Xiangxi makes the most of the bridge to prioritize the development of Aizhai Town, Shibadong Village and Dehang Canyon Scenic Area. In addition, it constantly improves the layout of road networks and such supporting service facilities as public toilets and parking lots.
Transport is the foundation of boosting scenic areas, industries and the income of local people. Thanks to the high-quality advancements of transport, Xiangxi’s industries, especially ecological cultural tourism, have seen a booming development. Xiangxi is embarking on a new journey to shake off poverty and head toward rural revitalization.
