Xiangxi Biancheng Airport conducts test flight

At 10:35 on March 31, the Airbus A320 of China Southern Airlines landed steadily at Xiangxi Biancheng Airport, marking that Xiangxi entered a new journey of aviation modernization.

Biancheng Airport welcomed the arrival of the plane with a grand ceremony of “crossing the water gate”. Adjacent to Shibadong Village, the place to propose the initiative of targeted poverty alleviation for the first time, Xiangxi Biancheng Airport is 35 kilometers away from Jishou, the capital city of the prefecture, and 17 kilometers away from Huayuan County.

It covers an area of 3,525 mu (2,350,000 square meters) and the terminal building has an area of 11,000 square meters. The airfield runway is 2,600 meters long and 45 meters wide, and there are 5 parking spaces. 

Such aircraft types as Boeing 738 and Airbus A321 can take off and land at the airport. The number of annual inbound and outbound passengers in phase I are designed to reach 300,000. The airport and supporting facilities received an investment of 2.848 billion yuan.
