Intangible cultural heritage performances held in Baojing County

An activity aiming to promote rural revitalization through intangible cultural heritage items was held in Shawan Village, Wanmipo Town, Baojing County from July 30 to 31. Achievements of intangible cultural heritage protection of Baojing County in the new era were showed through various forms like intangible cultural heritage performances and Tujia language training. It aimed to further improve people’s awareness of the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage and promote rural revitalization through intangible cultural heritage culture.

Performances of such intangible cultural heritage items with local folk characteristics as hand-waving dances, Tujia folk songs and Tujia costume shows were staged during the activity, getting applause from time to time.  Apart from intangible cultural heritage performances, an intangible cultural heritage exhibition area was also set up on site. Tujia cloth shoes and bamboo woven products were displayed.

Also, more than 10 students received training of the Tujia daily language, including spellings of Tujia dialect monosyllabic words and daily language. This training stimulated students’ interest in learning and achieved good results.

Finally, tourists were organized to visit the folk exhibition hall of Shawan Village. It displays various intangible cultural heritage items, with more than 400 objects, allowing them to feel the beauty of intangible cultural heritage. In recent years, Baojing County has deeply explored the value of intangible cultural heritage, promoted traditional culture, inherited traditional skills, and made remarkable achievements in the protection, inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage.

Now, the county has 258 representative intangible cultural heritage projects at all levels. It’s also gradually improving the work system of intangible cultural heritage projection, steadily enhancing the protection and inheritance level of intangible cultural heritage, constantly improving the popularity and influence of intangible cultural heritage. These efforts play a positive role in inheriting the history and culture of Baojing County, enhancing the cohesion of the masses and boosting rural revitalization.
