Recently, the list of national boutique tourism performing arts projects was released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, with a total of 40 projects selected nationwide. Hunan has three projects on the list, namely “Charming Western Hunan” of Zhangjiajie, “The Peach Blossom Spring” of Changde, and “The Carnival of Bifzivsar” of Xiangxi.

“The Peach Blossom Spring”, as a large-scale landscape live-action performance, is based on the scenes of a paradise depicted by Tao Yuanming (a famous poet in the Eastern Jin Dynasty). It meticulously portrays 18 scenes and unfolds a 360 ° panoramic life scroll, allowing visitors to experience the stunning scenery on both sides of the river by boat in 1.5 hours.
The large-scale original immersive ethnic custom performance “The Carnival of Bifzivsar”, based on the real scenes of Furong Town, integrates 13 national-level intangible cultural heritage items such as Tujia Maogusi dance, Tima Divine Song, and copper-bell dance in a marching and immersive manner to showcase the brave, bold, and straightforward national character of the Tujia people. So far, more than 2,000 performances have been staged, attracting over 3 million visitors.
