Cultural workers in Xiangxi have held cultural activities, and developed literary and artistic teams, with over 100,000 people participating in various cultural activities all year round, which promotes the vigorous development of rural culture.

Cultural workers in Xiangxi have continued efforts to participate in local cultural activities, like showing movies and staging opera performances in the countryside, which increases in the frequency, diversity, and quality of grassroots cultural activities, and enriches the cultural life of rural villagers.
In recent years, Xiangxi has appointed representatives to attend large-scale ethnic festivals, such as “Miao Siyueba”, “Miao Ganqiu Festival”, and “Tujia Sheba Festival”, and a series of cultural and tourism activities, such as Hunan Tourism Development Conference and Xiangxi Tourism Development Conference.
Cultural workers in Xiangxi have made efforts to inherit and protect ethnic culture, empower the cultural and tourism industry through intangible cultural heritage, and contribute to the economic and social development of the entire prefecture.
Cultural workers in Jishou City have combined the inheritance and protection of intangible cultural heritage, cultural relic protection, and the construction of rural characteristic villages to provide targeted assistance and guidance.
In Jishou City, more than 200 training sessions of Miao drums and songs are held every year, with more than 18,000 cultural talented people at the grassroots level cultivated.
Intangible cultural heritage activities have been carried out in schools, and some schools such as Jishou Middle School for Nationalities and Aizhai Primary School have been selected as prefectural-level demonstration bases for carrying out intangible cultural heritage activities.
Cultural workers in Luxi County have implemented the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage. Intangible cultural heritage classes have been provided in schools.
Booming cultural industry
Cultural workers help returning mothers find jobs at the doorstep to fatten their wallets through Miao embroidery. As of November 2023, Xiangxi Qixiu has offered paid training for 1,926 rural women, and jobs for 367 low-income people, and driven more than 3,000 people to engage in related industries, with the number of women employees accounting for 75% of the total. This has enabled more than 300 mothers of left-behind children to return to their hometowns for employment.
Cultural and creative brands such as “Miaoxiu Essence” and “Benshun Bamboo Art” have been created by highlighting the connotation of intangible cultural heritage, which greatly promotes the development of the local cultural and tourism industry.
In recent years, cultural workers in Xiangxi have created a batch of excellent cultural masterpieces.
“Dehang Fairyland”, with a new cultural and tourism performance model of “performance plus banquet plus drama”, has been staged in a theater created in the shape of “回” in the traditional buildings of Miao villages by integrating Miao cuisine and fine wine with drama. During this year’s National Day holiday, the program had a full house for every performance.
