The second Wuling Mountain Area Tujia and Miao Cultural and Ecological Protection Festival will be held in Furong Town, Yongshun County, Xiangxi Prefecture from June 6 to 8.
The scenic area will launch a series of activities, especially the large-scale intangible cultural heritage gala to be held on the evening of June 8. The gala will be livestreamed online to the world, in a bid to promote Hunan culture and showcase the regional characteristics of Xiangxi.
In addition, the opening ceremony of the intangible cultural heritage comprehensive experience exhibition hall in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao cultural and ecological protection Area will also be held on June 8. The hall, involving such themes as intangible cultural heritage in Xiangxi, China-Chic culture, and youth culture, is located in Wuli Shiban Street, Furong Town, includes master works exhibition areas, live broadcast rooms, and a cultural and creative product sales area.
A delegation of foreign travelers from over 50 countries and regions, who participated in the 2024 Hunan International Cultural Tourism Festival and the Trip.com Group Global Partner Hunan (Zhangjiajie) Inbound Tourism Conference, visited Furong Town for a familiarization trip on June 3.
They watched the authentic Tujia ethnic customs performances at the Hand-waving Hall in Furong Town, performed the Tujia hand-waving dance, and participated in the 11th Xiangxi Mud Carnival. They painted their faces to set themselves free in the mud festival, listened to Tujia folk songs on the ancient Tuwang Bridge, and viewed the unique “stilted buildings on cliff waterfall” in Furong Town from afar in the Waterfall Bay. They also purchased the cultural and creative works on Wuli Shiban Street and took photos of the beautiful ethnic costumes.
At the end of the tour, they hoped that the tourism exchange and cooperation between Furong Town and other countries around the world can be promoted through this trip, to attract more foreign tourists to see its unique scenery in the world.
