As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, various mooncakes are coming on the market, among which, a kind of mooncake made with Shibadong Golden Tea has won favor from consumers since its launch.

In recent days, Zhang Liaoyuan, production director of Hunan Xinpin Tea Biotechnology Company located in the Xiangxi National Agricultural Science and Technology Park in Hunan Province, has been busy checking a batch of mooncakes made with Shibadong Golden Tea.

“We have received orders of 150,000 yuan for these tea-flavored mooncakes before the Mid-Autumn Festival. Now, the factory is ramping up production to meet the needs of customers,” said Zhang Liaoyuan.

There are now tea-flavored mooncakes made with Shibadong Golden Tea, osmanthus flowers, Longjing tea, white tea, Pu’er tea and Oolong tea to satisfy the diverse needs of consumers.

Zhang Liaoyuan said, “The large area of Shibadong Golden Tea planted in Huayuan County provides us with enough raw materials.”

At the beginning of this year, Hunan Xinpin Tea Biotechnology Company settled in the Xiangxi National Agricultural Science and Technology Park through investment attraction by the local government of Huayuan County. The company is committed to the research and development of golden tea, production of tea drinks and promotion of tea culture. It develops high value-added products such as tea food to help farmers in Huayuan County and surrounding areas increase income and inject momentum into rural revitalization.

Zhang Liaoyuan said that since the company settled in the park, the local government has helped solve various problems such as food and accommodation. Meanwhile, the company headquarters located in Changsha completed all necessary procedures in August this year and has now relocated to Huayuan.

Currently, the company collaborates with a mooncake production factory in Changsha, providing it with high-quality Shibadong Golden Tea as raw materials. They jointly develop mooncakes of different flavors by adjusting the formula and strictly controlling the quality, and design special packaging boxes for these mooncakes.

This mooncake is different from traditional mooncakes in terms of formula. Shibadong Golden Tea is added into the mooncakes through a special process, making the mooncakes soft, sweet and not greasy. The innovative attempt of tea-flavored mooncakes not only enriches the company’s product types, but also provides new ideas for the innovation of Shibadong Golden Tea products.

At present, the company has established long-term cooperation with 17 Shibadong Golden Tea planting bases in Huayuan. About 1 ton of Shibadong Golden Tea is transported to Changsha every month for the production of mooncakes, and more than 100 local villagers in Huayuan have achieved employment and income growth nearby.

At the same time, the company not only regularly delivers mooncakes to the wholesale markets and supermarkets in Changsha, but also sells mooncakes to multiple cities such as Beijing, and Shenzhen, with an annual sales amount of over 300,000 yuan.

The company has also innovatively launched the “mooncake plus tea” series of products by packaging tea leaves or tea sets together with mooncakes, so consumers can drink the fragrant tea while eating mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Next, the company will build its own mooncake production lines in Huayuan County, and develop new creative tea products, in a bid to extend the tea industry chain, promote the integration of tea and tourism, and meet the personalized needs of customers.
